Class Options
Each student is to schedule 32 hours of classes to attend. If you will not be able to attend a designated rotation time, then choose "none" in the drop down. While every attempt will be made to schedule the requested classes please include one alternative class, if it is impossible to schedule the requested classes. Walk-In Registration will be available March 26th from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

. Clandestine Laboratory Awareness * 2 Hours

C Clandestine Labs are extremely dangerous and come in many different arrangements. Find out if you have the makings of a lab and who you should call to clean it up. You will also learn how to approach labs safely and when to back away. Instructor: HIDTA

2. Confined Space * 2 Hours

C This program will address various types of rescue situations responders can face and an overview of procedures and equipment required to safely perform rescue operations. Instructor: ROCO

3. TRANSCAER® Tank Trucks Introduction * 2 Hours

This 2-hour course is a series of stations that will be conducted outside of the classroom. As participants rotate between stations, and learn from experts in the tank truck industry. Topics that will be covered include: Tank truck types, uses, construction, leak sources, and valve construction and repairs. Instructors: Louisiana Chemical Manufacturing Association and TRANSCAER® members

4. Ropes & Knots * 2 Hours

C This program will address various types of rescue situations responders can face and an overview of procedures and equipment required to safely perform rescue operations. Instructor: Exxon Rescue Team

5. ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System * 0 Hours

Introductory to the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also defines the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).Instructor: Kelly Davis

6. ICS 200,ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents *0 Hours

Designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS. Instructor: Kelly Davis

8. Explosives Awareness (Classroom) ** 4 Hours

C This 4-hour class covers how to prepare for and how to handle a bomb threat. Students will learn how to teach their staff and co-workers what types of suspicious activities to look for to prevent their work place from becoming an easy target for a bomb threat. They will also learn what questions to ask if a bomb threat is called in and how to search their building before calling LSP Emergency Services to render the device safe. 9. Explosives / Bomb Threat Response (demo) ** 4 Hours

C This 4-hour class will cover bomb threat procedures for industry and public safety, discussions on bombs, their functions, explosives in general, and a brief overview of domestic terrorism, bomb threats and how to prepare for them. Instructors: Baton Rouge Police Department Sgt. Chris Rushing & Lt. Robert Stone, and EBR Sheriff’s Office

10. Chemical Emergency Specifics ** 4 Hours

C This 4-hour session will provide an introduction to emergency response for four specific chemicals. Chemical properties, transportation equipment, and strategic / tactical considerations will be included in presentations for ammonia, chlorine, MDI/TDI, and HF. You should leave this session with enough information to give you a general understanding of response operations for these specific chemicals and where to go to complete your understanding. 11. Fire Fighting Foam ** 4 Hours

This 4-hour course overviews the proper use of various fire fighting foams. Topics to be discussed will include but are not limited to: different types of firefighting foams, appliances for applying the foam, and required foam application rates. Instructors: Rick Lewis, Akron Brass, Bert Prejean, Southland Fire

12. Table Top Exercise (Incident Action Plan Scenario) ** 4 Hours

This 4-hour session will be a scenario based exercise in which participants, (Incident Management Staff), will be given information concerning a hazardous materials release. Participants will develop a plan of attack and complete an Incident Action plan, (IAP). Time will be allowed at the end of the session to critique the process and resulting IAP. Instructor: GOHSEP

13. TRANSCAER® Tank Trucks, Advanced ** 4 Hours

This 4-hour course will be conducted outside of the classroom. Participants will learn from experts in the tank truck industry, and must have proper PPE to fully participate with hands on the equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes. Topics that will be covered include: Emergency equipment and emergency procedures, product transfers, and leak mitigation in emergency situations through hands-on demonstrations. 14. Team Leader ** 4 Hours

This 4-hour course provides general knowledge in supervisory functions, development of incident action plans, coordination of multiple resources, and the implementation of a site incident management system. Instructor: LSU FETI

15. HAZWOPER Refresher ** 4 Hours

C  This 4-hour refresher for HAZWOPER will cover the following topics: Regulatory Overview, Toxicology, Hazard ID and Assessment, Respiratory Protection, PPE Decon, and ICS. Instructor: ES&H

16. Hazardous Materials Tech Refresher **** 8 Hours

This 8-hour class will recertify HazMat Technicians who have completed the 40-hour Technician Course and have remained up-to-date on their annual certifications. Instructor: ????

17. Barge Off-Site Class **** 8 Hours

This is 8-hour class that will be taught Off Site on a barge. It is strongly recommended that students should have attended the 4 hour intro class prior to this class. Instructor: Kirby

18. Haz Mat IQ **** 8 Hours

20. Haz Mat Medical Emergencies * 2 Hours

C   Class details the management of patients injured during chemical emergencies. Discussions will cover prehospital care, transportation and arrival at hospital emergency rooms. Instructor: Chris Gibson, EBR EMS
